My Role
Lead Product Designer
Momentum is a mobile pharmacy app developed for Aide Chemists, a leading pharmacy in Ghana, to expand access to healthcare products and services. Designed to replicate the trusted in-person pharmacy experience, it allows users to manage prescriptions, subscriptions, order medications, personalize their profile, and receive expert support with ease.
As Lead Product Designer, I guided the product vision and design strategy for Momentum from early concept through launch. I managed a team of two UX designers and worked closely with engineers, client stakeholders, and product leads to ensure alignment across design and development. My focus was on shaping user experience strategy, translating partner needs into product decisions, and overseeing execution to maintain consistency and clarity throughout.
Our approach was informed by extensive user research and iterative testing. Given the local preference for in-person pharmacy visits and limited familiarity with digital healthcare tools, we prioritized simplicity, trust-building, and guided, human-centered interactions.
The MVP addressed core needs: fast delivery, recurring prescriptions, pharmacist support, and flexible pickup, through features like digital prescription uploads, on-demand ordering, and subscription-based refills. In parallel, we developed internal tools to streamline operations at scale, including inventory management, automated fulfillment workflows, and a driver interface to support efficient, reliable delivery.
Within a few months of launch, the Momentum app made a meaningful impact in its community — receiving positive feedback for its intuitive design and ease of use. The platform successfully onboarded new users who began placing pharmacy orders digitally, many for the first time. Its streamlined approach to managing prescriptions and accessing services led to increased engagement and repeat usage.
